Experience

Founder and mentor of Sailing with Attitude, Jonathan is an adventurer and long-distance solo sailor with a long track record as an activist in social and ecological movements. He spent most of his life involved with indigenous people.

He holds a PhD in sociology from the Sorbonne in Paris (subject: identity). His special interest in indigenous cultures resulted in close relationships with traditional groups accross Australia, the Pacific and East Asia.

Jonathan has written many articles and has been published in Australia and overseas. His interest in documentary-making lead to his involvement in productions mostly for National Geographic.

Drawing on this experience, he offers a challenging perspective on human behaviour while in extreme conditions and applies it to on-going projects.
