-
Please remove all items that could be lost or damaged such as mobile phones, jewellery, watches... and empty your pockets

Beware of caps that may reduce visibility, specially in relation to the boom. Also beware of glasses that could be caught in rigging items. The instructor will cover these topics during the safet briefing
Theory:
-
Ask Jonathan for specific requirements to suit the class
SAFETY
-
Sailing can be a dangerous activity! Please remember it and act accordingly. Safety is our major concern. There will be a comprehensive safety briefing at the beginning of each course; and further safety considerations will be addressed during training. We ask all students to comply strictly with all safety requirements for themselves and also for the safety of others. During the safety briefing the instructor will talk about specific topics such as how to walk on deck, the boom and other items that can be dangerous. Please take this very seriously to make sure you have a great and safe time while learning. We have an exemplary track record and would like to keep it this way ; in your interest
-
We carry all safety equipment onboard. The instructor will ask you if you can swim and might order the wearing of life jackets. In all cases we welcome you to ask for a life jacket at any time you wish
STUDENT RECORD
-
You will have access to your student record at all times so that you can monitor your progress
ACCREDITATIONS
-
All our courses are accredited Internationally or in Australia depending on your choice. At the end of each course your logbook will be updated. We will supply a logbook if you do not have one already. Keep it safety: this is your passport to boating
PRIVATE CLASSES

COMPETENCY
We strongly believe that paying for a course and attending classes is not enough for a student to be deemed competent. There should be a due process of assessment at the end of each module to ensure the competency has been reached. This is the principle of Competentcy Based Training (CBT). Although CBT is not in place with YA, we are nonetheless conducting competency assessments with all our students to ensure they have met the required outcomes.
We are also conducting competency assessments for others. These are ideal for students who have sailed in the past and want to resume, or those who have completed courses elsewhere and want to move on. In these cases, assessments will be informal, yet comprehensive, onboard during practical classes with other students, examination style. They will also include theory when needed. On completion, we will discuss the best programme to suit the student. This is a great way for students to find out where they really are, what they need to learn to achieve their objectives and how to do it.
NOTE: Competency assessments are compulsory under IYT rules to comply with international standards.
As part of the enrollment procedure, you will be notified of the content of this page for you to read the school's terms and conditions. Starting a course or any other programme(s) will confirm your acceptance of these terms and conditions. (Jonathan Bogais)
